Black gloss is absolutely gorgeous. You have to be very careful to clean it off and keep it clean during the shoot, but it makes staging a breeze and let's you reflect some beautiful images. The fact you can shoot overhead and have it be matte is honestly like magic and it's a wonderful feature to make this surface a lot more versatile.

This surface is absolutely gorgeous. I love the high reflection and the lovely black color. My husband was also impressed by this surface and thought that since there's a back design I could use either side for my photos. The only downside to this surface is that it scratches easily. I decided to do a test shoot using plants and potting soil. After the shoot I removed the plants from the surface then wipe the dirt away with a wet cloth. I still got small surface level scratches that now bother me. I honestly supposed for the price this product would be scratch-proof, but it is not. Please be careful with this surface.

This surface is the most dramatic, in my opinion. It's a little trickier to photograph, because lighting is really critical to achieve that deep color. I found I could only shoot during golden hour (pm was better than am). I also found that when there was barely any natural light left, my iphone could still catch enough light to get the most dramatic shots.
It's so hard to eliminate which one I like best when I try different shots with this surface. It even picks up the backdrop, which I found really fun to play with the different "lights" surfaces (I have champagne, white, and evening lights).

I absolutely love the way the gloss black surface accentuates the fine writing instruments that I restore. Look at how beautiful this Mont Blanc Meisterstück 149 75th Anniversary Special Edition fountain pen looks against the surface! It is extremely difficult to get great photos of pens due to their cylindrical shape, and this surface has brought out the beauty in every pen that has laid on it (that, and the lovely Sony 90mm f2.8 Macro G OSS). I cannot say enough good about this surface! If you have any product that can be difficult to work with due to lighting it properly, bringing out its true colors, and presenting it appropriately; consider the gloss black surface. It really steps up the style. Once you have figured out your exposure, it is cake from there.
